Camping at Hartman Creek State Park

This perennial favorite, 2 hours from Milwaukee, is a great ride for novice and experienced bike campers. Quiet rural roads, a park with hiking, swimming and canoeing. We have a great group site reserved. There are fun restaurants and other great activities in the Waupaca area. Call or e-mail your ride host Mark Steckhahn at 414-453-6872 / steck58@att.net to reserve your spot.

Last minute details on Hartman Creek camping. The weather is looking promising. Campers will start arriving early Friday afternoon at Group campsite #1.  You need to park at the ranger station and then sign in.  The campsite is under Brian Musha's name.

A short ride may be in order
on Friday afternoon, so if you arrive early and want to ride, let us know and we'll wait for you. Friday night, our traditional trek to the Wheelhouse to have dinner is still on tap. So, when most people arrive, we'll head out to the Wheelhouse for fish or whatever you enjoy.  Some sad news: for those of you who loved the Kings Table for breakfast: they have closed their doors. So other breakfast options include bringing your own, or heading for downtown Waupaca for the first meal of the day. One option is Three Squares Restaurant, 1222 W Fulton St, Waupaca 54981.

Saturday we head to Iola/Scandinavia for a beautiful ride which includes a tractor pull in Ogdensburg (?) and home made pie, continuing on to the Crystal Palace in Iola and back. Stops may be in order at Central Waters Brewery near Amherst. Saturday evening is is a repeat of Friday night. Watching a roaring campfire!

Sunday, we will have several ride options, with kayaking, canoeing, and hiking possibilities as well.  If you decide that you want to join us at the last minute, give Mark a call at 414-405-9082. There's plenty room! Bring bug spray, a lawn chair and fire wood if possible.  Bike, eat, repeat.  See you in Waupaca.
